A new affordable housing complex is open in north Phoenix.

Nonprofit organization UMOM bought the North Mountain Lodge Motel in 2011 in Sunnyslope, next to UMOM’s other affordable housing complex, Casa de Paz Sahuaro Apartments. The Arizona Department of Housing and the Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation invested in the property as well to create Parsons Village.

Parsons Village was built from the ground up on the former motel grounds to create 48 one-, two- and three-bedroom affordable housing apartments, as well as a 5,000-square-foot community center, which will provide job search assistance, coaching, and mock interview support in the technology center provided by Cox Communications.
Thirty-four of the 48 units are dedicated to chronically homeless individuals and families. Fifty to 75 families are on UMOM’s shelter waiting list and hundreds more seek affordable housing, according to UMOM

Parsons Village opened April 5.
