August brings a quieter rhythm to Scottsdale, but that does not mean the real estate market comes to a standstill. Serious buyers are still watching closely, particularly those hoping to make a move before the fall season brings more competition. With fewer casual shoppers touring homes during the hottest part of the summer, sellers may find that the buyers who do schedule showings are more motivated and prepared to act.
For sellers, presentation and pricing remain especially important. Buyers have more time to compare available properties, making updated interiors, thoughtful staging, professional photography, and a strong digital presence valuable. It’s hard to believe we’re already turning the page into August. Summer always seems to fly by, and before we know it, our routines start changing again. My son heads back to college in just a couple of weeks for his junior year, and I’ve loved soaking up every chance I could to watch him play in his summer baseball league here in Arizona. Those moments together are ones I’ll always treasure.
If you live in the Valley, you know what comes next. School starts on August 10, which means the quiet roads, easy parking, and uncrowded stores are about to become a distant memory. Until then, we’re enjoying a few slower moments at home. Terry and Bianca have certainly mastered the art of relaxing, and I’m trying to take a few notes from them before life gets busy again!
One of the highlights of our month was visiting the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. My family had the opportunity to meet two of the artists who were selected to display their design as part of Scottsdales public art program. We had the chance to hear about their creative process, see photos of the installation as it evolved, ask questions, and experience the finished work. We also checked out “Squidsoup”, an incredible immersive light and sound exhibit, and if you’re looking for something unique to do, it’s on display through the end of August. I highly recommend checking it out.
Before I wrap up, I also want to share a quick homeowner tip. A recent news story about someone allegedly attempting to sell a Scottsdale condo they didn’t own was a good reminder that property fraud is a real issue. Maricopa County offers a free Property Alert service that notifies you if a document is recorded against your property, giving you an extra layer of protection against fraudulent activity.
